Easy Clay Projects

Working with clay is perhaps one of the most rewarding experiences of a child’s elementary art career. All that squeezing and shaping and then finally….a finished piece! Kids love them and parents treasure them. It’s a win-win situation. But sometimes, working with clay can be a daunting experience. Believe me, I’ve been there! Hopefully, I can take the fear out of working with clay and show you that it can be done with little or no experience. If you have a kiln and the desire, you’re all set! If you don’t have a kiln, the projects demonstrated are easily adaptable for any air dry clay but be warned, air dry clay is not as durable as kiln-fired clay.

This packet is great for grade levels: K-6

The lessons in this 19-page art booklet are practically fail-proof. I’ve compiled my best tips from seven years of ceramic experience and broken up the information into categories:

  • Supplies (what to get, where to get it and what the heck is it in the first place)
  • Working with Clay (some pointers to prevent blow-ups…not from you, but in the kiln!)
  • Painting/Underglaze information
  • Glazing
  • The Kiln (and why it’s not such a scary thing)

Complete photo-tutorials of seven projects are detailed:

  • Basic Pinch Pot
  • Decorative Coasters (A GREAT teacher’s gift)
  • Leaf Bowls
  • Pumpkins
  • Guppies
  • Frogs
  • Dinosaurs
  • Wall Plaques
  • Plus a few extra project ideas thrown in.

How to Access your DIGITAL Lessons

By adding your email and password to our system, we can provide you with a history of all your purchased art lessons. This means you can access them anytime you wish through the “My DSS” button. Please note: Your “My DSS” password is unrelated to your e-course password

Once your payment goes through, you will be guided to a download link so you can see your lesson plan straight away. All lesson plans that you order will remain in your own personalized “DSS store” for access whenever and wherever you want so even if you didn’t received the link via email, you can always access the lessons via “My DSS”.

I like to print out my lesson plans and place in a lesson plan book, but if you are watchful of your ink supply, you may just want to print just the handouts. I’ve designed them in black and white so you can photocopy them easily and cheaply.
