I get asked alot of blogging questions. Things like how to make a banner or how to resize photos or even more personal details like if blogging is worth my time. I decided a long time ago that I’m not the right person to ask. When it comes to blog design and technical stuff, I’m pretty much a big doofus. I know what I want, but getting there takes ALOT of google searching for art-teacher-friendly tutorials.
I came across Momcomm (Click here to view more details)–a blog critique site–who just released a e-book. Now you know me. I rarely review products and I never review “techy” stuff. But I bought the e-book because I was wondering how to optimize my SEO. Don’t know what that is? Well, this book gives a pretty good reason why you should know and care. Melissa, a mom of two, shares her blogging know-how on her blog critique site for free but produced an e-book to help those who want to go a little deeper in evaluating and making a better blog. Melissa covers everything: Blog goals, branding, colors, header sizes, fonts, layouts, writing tips…I could go on and on.
If you ever wondered how to build more traffic, receive more comments or learn more about advertising, then consider Momcomm’s DIY Critique EBook.
Melissa didn’t ask me to write this. In fact, she has no idea who I am, but she offers affiliate links for her ebook (if you purchase her ebook, I get a small commission). I don’t advertise (at least not yet) but knew that her ebook would be of interest to many of my readers. It is so worthwhile that I just may have to use it as my default answer when someone asks me a blog techy question! Anyway…keep the questions coming. At some point I may be skilled enough to answer them, but until then…visit Momcomm and check out her ebook. Your blog will thank you!

Thanks for the review. I hate paying for info that is out there for free, but this looks like a must buy.
Funny you are mentioning this. I’m a blogger wannabe and clueless.I have had my blog for awhile but have no idea what to do with it. My main goal is to help someone who may need it. This may be just the ticket to get me rolling again. My blog is http://www.caterpillarsintobutterflies.blogspot.com. It might be interesting to see how this transforms.
Thanks for posting!

Hi Cheryl,
I made a quick edit to your URL which is blogspot not bloodspot. Loved the typo! Good luck with your blog!
I am glad you posted this. I am always looking for ways to help bloggers and learn more about better and efficient blogging. I even teach a class for art teachers online called “Blogging for Art Educators” http://www.theartofed.com/classes. The class helps art teachers understand and helps them get rolling on their blogs. I am interested to look into this E-book in more detail! I also found another great e- book for bloggers written by Rachel Meeks called SImple Blogging http://simpleblogging.net/
Enjoy!

I stumbled across this and you just made my evening! Seriously, I’m so glad you enjoyed my eBook. I spent so many hours on it (sometimes it hard to get into words that’s thrashing around in my head- lol). Anyway, I truly appreciate you taking the time to review it.
And your blog is so gorgeous. Your social media buttons are some of the best I’ve seen!
Great to meet you through BYW!
Just found your blog…but love it already! So much to offer!
I am an artist and art educator, too.
TGIF!

Hi Patty,
I love your site and refer people to it all the time. I am having a hard time with my classroom website and wondered where to get the framework for yours…I love the easy set up. I would like to create a site that is both for families of my classroom and eventually for teachers. I’ve been taking many of your art lessons and creating new lessons using curriculum we’re required to teach in grade 4. Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks!
Melissa
Hi Melissa,
I use the Lifestyle theme from Genesis. It has lots of flexibility, which I like, but it’s also a self-hosted site which means you need to pay for the server.
