Art is meant to be an emotional experience, not just a learning experience. The technical side of any art project is always there but it’s important to make connections to our lives and the lives of others.
This project is a story-telling project where young artists can create their own stories inside their artwork by re-creating a winter skating scene inspired by a painting by artist Kathe Soave.
Children learn how to create a starry reflection on a frozen pond, movement through paper cutting and composition through shapes.
This project uses a few basic supplies: colored chalk pastel, colored paper, white tempera paint and a pile of scrap paper.
Who is this project for? While this project is very easy to do, only attempt this lesson if your children can cut small shapes with scissors. Best for second grade and up.
