Reading an Eric Carle book in my art room is a no-fail approach to combining literature and art. I used Eric Carle’s book, A House for Hermit Crab as inspiration for this lesson. The artwork is kid-friendly and relatable which makes creating an art project equally so.
Although I love this Hermit Crab lesson, I offer you coloring alternatives in case you don’t have (or care to use) liquid tempera paint. You can find these suggestions in Step 1 so make sure to read the section before deciding what art supplies to set out.
