About Deep Space Sparkle

Deep Space Sparkle is a trusted art education resource for K-7 art teachers, providing ready-to-teach curriculums, skill-building workshops, and an exceptional teacher experience that makes art education achievable and inspired. We’re building a complete ecosystem that supports art educators at every stage of their journey—from their first year in the classroom to leading thriving art programs.

We’re obsessed with details, driven by impact, and committed to sustainable excellence. Our team of self-directed creators transforms art education one supported teacher at a time, reaching tens of thousands of art educators worldwide.

The Role

We’re seeking a Member Experience Manager to serve as the heartbeat of our online art teacher membership and community. This role is essential to our growth: you’ll be responsible for creating exceptional member experiences that drive retention, foster genuine connection, and help art teachers achieve real results in their classrooms.

This isn’t about simply managing a community—it’s about understanding the psychology of an online, digital membership experience, identifying what makes teachers stay engaged, and strategically designing touchpoints that transform overwhelmed educators into confident, thriving members who feel supported and well-resourced. Training is provided.

What You’ll Do

Drive Member Retention & Engagement in an Online Membership
  • • Own retention as your primary metric, with goals of achieving 85-90% annual retention rates
  • • Monitor member behavior to identify consumption patterns, engagement levels, and at-risk members
  • • Track and analyze monthly retention, annual churn, drop-off points, and failed payment recovery rates in our online memberships
  • • Implement strategic interventions (we call them “Surprise & Delight Moments”) at critical moments in the member journey
Create Strategic Member Experiences
  • • Design onboarding sequences that help new members experience early wins
  • • Work with our Content Team to build anticipation and excitement around content releases through previews, teasers, and announcements
  • • Create surprise-and-delight moments that share valuable content and encourage member success
  • • Craft success pathways for different member segments (homeschool parents, first-year teachers, experienced educators)
Manage Internal Community & Communication
  • • Oversee our membership communities, celebrating wins, facilitating discussions, helping members find content and addressing member concerns
  • • Work with our content team to highlight new content, upcoming releases, and member achievements in our weekly newsletters
  • • Develop spotlights, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives that build pride and belonging
  • • Serve as the liaison between members and our content team, translating member needs into actionable insights

What Success Looks Like

You’ll measure your impact through:
  • • Monthly and annual retention rates for new and existing members
  • • Member engagement metrics (login frequency, content consumption, community participation)
  • • Identification and recovery of at-risk members
  • • Failed payment recovery rates

Who Thrives in This Role

You bring a strategic mindset to an art teacher’s experience inside our memberships. You understand that keeping members engaged requires more than friendliness—it demands data analysis, behavioral insights, and intentional design of the member journey.

You’re genuinely empathetic and people-focused. You care deeply about helping teachers succeed and can communicate with warmth, authenticity, and encouragement across written and video formats.

You understand membership dynamics. Whether through professional experience or personal insight, you grasp what makes people stay committed to a membership: consumption, community, and results.

You’re a natural communicator. You facilitate meaningful discussions, craft engaging posts and know how to make every member feel seen and valued.

Requirements

  • • College degree required
  • • Experience in online community management, customer success, membership programs, or related fields strongly preferred
  • • Understanding of online educational memberships or teaching environments is beneficial
  • • Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships
  • • Strong analytical skills with comfort using metrics to drive decisions
  • • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. We don’t rely on AI to connect with members.
  • • Kind, supportive, enthusiastic, and professional interpersonal skills.
  • • Experience with art education is a plus, though not required
Deep Space Sparkle values: We’re obsessed with details, driven by impact, committed to the creative process, and believe in sustainable excellence over hustle culture.
