Barn Owl

Designed with standards for 2nd grade

In this fall lesson, students will create an autumn barn owl using an engaging shaving cream marbling technique.

The marbled paper creates a feather-like effect that’s perfect for building a textured owl with the help of the included template.

Along the way, students will explore texture and movement while experimenting with a process that feels especially exciting and hands-on.

Our lessons are unique to Deep Space Sparkle’s framework for designing an engaging, yet rigorous learning experience.

They’re standards-infused, age-appropriate and easy for you to implement in your art room to ensure teacher AND student success.

Real Teacher Feedback:

“Barn Owl lesson with 1st graders was a huge success! We did the shaving cream prints on day one in our 45-minute class. We also splattered paper with white tempera on dark blue paper on day one. In session 2, we made the owls.”
