In this richly layered bird bath project, students will create floating chalk prints by shaving soft pastels into water, resulting in beautiful marbled textures.

These prints become the perfect material to construct a symmetrical bird bath, introducing concepts like shape, balance and contrast. 

The lesson wraps up with a fun splash effect that involves double-loaded finger-painting, reinforcing the illusion of movement and water.
