Color Wheel Lion

Designed with standards for 1st grade 

In this lesson, students will create a color wheel lion while exploring how primary colors combine to create secondary colors.

Using a low-prep (and art-on-a-cart-friendly!) marker-painting technique, students will layer colors to build a six-part color wheel that becomes the lion’s colorful mane.

Along the way, they’ll practice color mixing, line and implied texture while building a stronger understanding of the color wheel.
