Window with a View

Designed with standards for 1st Grade
Perfect for grades 1st – 3rd

In this lesson, students will create their own window scene inspired by Fauvist painter Henri Matisse. Artists will imagine opening up a window to reveal a splendid view of anywhere in the world they’d like to see!

Students will use bright, contrasting colors and create opening and closing shutters with colored paper and oil pastels, while learning about shapes and the great Henri Matisse.
